Caianiello\u201d, CNR \u2013 Pozzuoli, Italy) presented his recent research on <strong>nanoparticles and photomobile polymers<\/strong> as a breakthrough in the development of <strong>light-driven actuators<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The talk highlighted results from two major projects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>PULSE-COM Project (2019\u20132023):<\/strong> Focused on developing photo-piezo-actuators based on light-sensitive composites.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ALICE Project (2022\u20132024):<\/strong> Aiming to create a new class of actuator platforms to convert light into mechanical energy for applications such as <strong>soft robotics<\/strong> and <strong>solar energy harvesting<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Key innovations discussed included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The use of <strong>azobenzene-based photo-switchable molecules<\/strong> to store and release energy via light-induced isomerization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Doping photomobile polymers with ZnO nanoparticles<\/strong>, which enhances bending ability when stimulated with light.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advances in <strong>4D printing technologies<\/strong>, enabled by ZnO doping, that eliminate the need for mechanical rubbing and expand possibilities for smart materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Several <strong>international patent applications<\/strong>, marking significant steps toward real-world applications in <strong>solar tracking, energy generation, and advanced actuator systems<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Sagnelli\u2019s work demonstrates how <strong>light-responsive smart materials<\/strong> can pave the way for innovative energy solutions and next-generation devices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today at the ISASI Workshop, Dr. Domenico Sagnelli (Institute of Applied Sciences and [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":2216,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_themeisle_gutenberg_block_has_review":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[11],"tags":[28,27,30,29,26,10],"class_list":["post-2200","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-diagnosticsystems","tag-focussessionsp15","tag-meta2026","tag-nanobiosensing","tag-scientificresearch","tag-news"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.9 -
